When I take your case, I’m looking after more than a client. I’m seeing to the needs of my neighbors, friends, and family. I spent decades gaining experience in matters of litigation, alternative dispute resolution and working with small businesses. My family’s grocery store served this town for three generations, and we decided it was now the right time for us to return to Northwood.
The people of my hometown matter to me. This is why I take an active role as the City Council president and commander of the American Legion post. I also hold a position as a Grand Forks County commissioner. I was a member of the Eden Prairie, MN Noon Rotary Club for eight years prior to returning to Northwood.

Engen Law Firm, Ltd. maintains an open door policy. If you walk through my door, just ask, “You got a minute?” My clients can expect a comfortable, informal environment with fresh coffee brewing.
Most of my clients arrive as referrals from other lawyers or are members of the community who have grown to trust my family’s name. Engen Law upholds that confidence by helping residents of Northwood and western Grand Forks County.
I have had Engen Law represent our company on several occasions, and I have found David to be extremely knowledgeable and resourceful in all our dealings. His past association with large law firms out of Dallas and Minneapolis offers his clients a tremendous advantage and a wealth of experience. We feel very fortunate to have his firm located in our community.
We recently chose Engen Law to assist us with our wills, living wills, power of attorney, and real estate decisions. We were very pleased with the welcoming atmosphere and organized professional treatment we received there.
When I decided to start my own business, I looked for legal counsel and decided on Engen Law in Northwood, ND. I could not be happier with my choice. They helped me form my LLC, do the licensing with the State of North Dakota, and provided me with the contract I use with my clients.
